Why burned-in beats a subtitle file

A .srt file only works when the player supports it and the viewer switches it on. Social apps mostly don't: Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp play the video as-is, and most muted feeds scroll straight past anything without text. Burning the words into the frames means they are simply part of the video — nothing to enable, nothing to lose on upload.

The usual catch with free tools is the exit: you style everything, press export, and the download comes out stamped with a logo or capped at ten minutes unless you pay. Here the export is the same video you'd get on a paid plan: your full video, your subtitles, no stamp.

How it works

Upload your video with the clean-or-subtitled option ticked. The speech is transcribed automatically — the same engine that does our transcripts — and you get the text first, so you can check it before anything is rendered.

  1. Upload the video (tick ‘also make a clean or subtitled version’).
  2. Check the transcript — fix anything the audio made ambiguous.
  3. Pick a style: classic white, bold social-style, or minimal.
  4. Press burn. Roughly a minute per ten minutes of video, and the MP4 download appears on the page.
What it costs

Nothing, for the things that matter: no watermark, no account, no trial that expires. Free covers files up to 60 minutes — most tools cap free burns at ten. If you work with very long recordings, the €5 month pass raises the limit to four hours and adds the pro extras across all our tools.

Common questions

Is there really no watermark?

Really. The exported MP4 is your video with your subtitles and nothing else on it. The site is paid for by the small ads around the tool, not by stamping your work.

Does it work for TikTok and Instagram?

Yes — that's the point of burning. The text is part of the picture, so it shows in every app, muted feeds included. Vertical video stays vertical.

Which languages does it handle?

The transcription understands 98+ spoken languages and the subtitles render in any script your video needs.

Can I edit the text before it's burned in?

Yes. The transcript appears first; you can read it, and the burn happens only when you press the button.

How long can the video be?

Up to 60 minutes free. The €5 pass raises that to four hours.

Is my video kept?

No. Your upload and the subtitled MP4 are both deleted with the rest of the job within 45 minutes.
