The half that ruins subtitle files is the timing: paste a subtitle track into a translator and it happily merges two lines into one nice sentence — and from that moment every line after it sits on the wrong moment. You don't notice at line 3. You notice at line 300, when someone answers a question nobody has asked yet.
ScribeGrab never lets the timestamps near the translator. The file is cut into blocks, only the text is sent, and the translation is put back on the exact same time codes it came from. If a line comes back merged or missing, that line is translated again on its own rather than shifting everything below it.

Speaker labels survive the trip: if the transcript says Speaker 1, that label is put back in front of the translated line instead of being translated into something else.

This is machine translation, running on our own GPU here rather than at a translation company: nothing about your recording leaves this machine, and there is no per-word bill, which is why recordings up to 20 minutes are free. For most videos it is good enough to publish as it stands.

You can still transcribe them and download the subtitles for free; only translating them is out of the free version. A paid option for long recordings is coming — tell us through the feedback button on the site if you want it, because that's what decides how soon it arrives.
